This looks at the Australian beaches that have a distance and "mile beach" in their name (e.g. "Seven Mile Beach" etc), and tests how accurate their names are, based on the (rough) actual length of the beach. When measured (and rounded to the nearest mile) only -- of the beaches matched their name length-wise, whereas -- of beaches were shorter than the name suggests (of those shorter, the average length was around -- of what was stated), and -- were longer (with these, average length was -- more than what was stated). Around a third of these beaches were in WA (not surprising, given the size of the coastline...).
